How it all got started
In October 2022, when Pastor Joel Schofield from Stone Baptist Church and Eynsford Baptist Church in the UK stepped onto the grounds of Mount Carmel, he carried more than just luggage… he carried a vision that would forever change our lives. This wasn’t just any visit; this was a divine appointment. Pastor Joel had been called by God with an extraordinary mission: to breathe life back into churches standing at death’s door, to witness resurrection in places where hope had nearly died.
Our family wasn’t in the sanctuary that pivotal day; we were somewhere else in God’s house, serving as we always do. But God’s timing is never accidental. Soon after, Mount Carmel launched its first mission team to the UK in December 2022, and what happened there can only be described as Kingdom breakthrough. The stories that flowed back weren’t just reports… they were testimonies of God’s unstoppable power moving through ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
As whispers of another mission trip began circulating, I found myself wrestling with uncertainty. Then came the moment that still takes my breath away. Mmy bride, during worship service, turned to me with eyes ablaze with holy conviction and declared, “I’m going. I don’t know how, but I am going.” In that instant, I didn’t just hear her voice; I heard the unmistakable call of the Holy Spirit. Looking into her eyes, I saw Jesus Himself, and something long dormant in my soul suddenly roared to life… a passion for international missions I didn’t even know had been sleeping.
As July 2023 drew near, so did the mountain we had to climb. Our financial reality was stark. The pandemic had left its marks, job transitions had taken their toll, and raising two incredible boys in an increasingly expensive world had stretched us thin. But my bride? She stood unshakeable in her faith. She couldn’t see the path, but she could see the Pathmaker.
One ordinary morning, sitting at our dining table surrounded by fundraising dreams and empty coffee cups, I began to pray. In that sacred stillness, God spoke with crystal clarity: “meaningful sacrifice.” He wasn’t asking for my comfort; He was calling me to lay down something significant, to step boldly into the unknown for His glory and for my bride’s calling.
That divine whisper became a 24-hour pilgrimage through the streets of Cabot, Arkansas, carrying the Christian flag as my banner of faith. What started as simple obedience transformed into pure inspiration. Through God’s incredible grace and the overwhelming generosity of His people, that single act of faith covered the complete cost of the mission trip.
From that step of radical obedience, the #walkwithChristchallenge was born like a flame from an altar. And from that challenge, Coworkers Ministry emerged… not as our idea, but as God’s answer. We exist to send others into the harvest fields, to equip ordinary believers for extraordinary Kingdom work, and to walk alongside anyone brave enough to follow wherever God leads.
This isn’t just our story. It’s a testament to what happens when we say yes to God’s impossible dreams.
